LIVE WELL EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

The Helen Rollason Live Well Experience is a five-day residential programme for people touched by cancer.

It has been developed with the support of trained counsellors and patients. The therapeutic framework supporting this programme incorporates all aspects of the individual including the mind, body, heart and soul.

Our programme will offer education and experiential support in areas such as group and individual counselling, stress management, visualisation, meditation, gentle exercise, art therapy and nutrition.

The main emphasis of the programme is on the provision of therapeutic support and development through a group process. The intention is to enable people to concentrate on the emotional aspect of a cancer diagnosis. It will also offer them the opportunity to explore the emotions surrounding their diagnosis and help them develop new coping skills.

We also recognise that a carer's experience of a cancer diagnosis is different to a patient's and we are therefore including their needs in our developmental process.

The primary objectives of the programme are to:

  • Enable each person to come to terms with the shock of a cancer diagnosis.
  • Provide support following a cancer recurrence.
  • Give each person the opportunity to participate in a group process.
  • Provide evidence-based information on nutrition and diet.
  • Provide the opportunity to learn new support techniques.
  • Give each person an opportunity to incorporate support techniques into their daily lives.
  • Allow each person to express themselves in a relaxed and safe environment.
  • Give each person the opportunity to tell their story and be heard.
  • Encourage each person to live their lives as fully as possible.
  • Provide each person with the opportunity to connect with a natural environment.
  • Encourage each person to incorporate healthy, yet fun exercise into their daily routine.
